It was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld for the Jewish soldiers back then. Perhaps, you have heard of other forms of fighting styles aside from the Krav Maga techniques. It is not a wonder, for some of the techniques showcased in this art can also be found in other types of martial such as Muay Thai, wrestling, and boxing. If you are interested to learn some of the basics of this martial art that is slowly taking the world by storm, read on.
First, are there some rules? There are no hard and fast rules in using Krav Maga techniques.
The most important thing that you should remember is your safety while dealing with your attackers in the real world. The goal is to neutralize the opponent as soon as they show threat against you. In this situation, you should not show fear or weakness. Aggression is your key. Showing your enemies that you can take them down can somehow soften their impact against you and consequently weaken their blows. Because this technique relies heavily on your instinct, it is imperative that you deliver as much powerful blows as you can without giving your enemy the chance to fight back. If you do give them that opportunity, your safety may be compromised. Basically, you have to survive and break free from your attackers using any available means that is available to you.
Krav Maga techniques will not be that effective if you do not have the important foundation or stance where you will base your attacks.
Krav Maga has no established form of stance, but a stance with your feet in at least shoulder width apart is advisable. This is to ensure that your balance is intact even before the enemies strike. Note that as soon as you get off-balanced, your enemies can take advantage of you more easily, defeating the purpose of the entire art. It is also advisable for you to guard your eyes and chest using your arms. These two parts are vulnerable to attack and if one is struck strong enough, you have less chance of surviving other blows that your assailants can give you. Aside from the basic stance, it is also important for you to know the basic offensive techniques. This is highly useful when you have no access to tools that can intensify your attack against your opponents. There are three main techniques that Krav Maga uses: kicks, punches, and elbow strikes. Although you will be taught how to execute high kicks or punches, this technique encourages that you use the low-angled version of these blows. This is because you need to keep yourself in good balance while dealing with the enemies.
These are just some of the techniques that you can use when you are out in the”real world”. It is important that you know the basics for you to know the art more. This can save your life in the long run.
